Where to Buy Trees, Seeds, and Compost in Costa Rica?

The third principle of permaculture is fair share. This implies an open source ethic with regard to knowledge and information. It is with that in mind that our team at Porvenir Design is has put together this guide for sourcing plants, seeds, soil amendments, consultants in all fields, and much more. It is a guide that has been compiled over our four years in operation as a permaculture design firm based in Costa Rica. It has been put together with the help of many colleagues and deserves to be a free resources for everyone working in Costa Rica on building soil, improving water cycles and growing food.

All we ask is that you subscribe to our blog below in order to receive the PDF sourcing guide. This allows us to share information on case studies, future courses, and contemplations more widely.

Porvenir Design on the Permaculture Podcast

We were recently featured on the Permaculture Podcast talking about design for the context and culture of Costa Rica and the tropics in general. During the podcast we discuss what the some of the main differences are between working in temperate climates and working in tropical climates. As well we explore the reality of working with landowners who are not the primary people during the physical work of site installation. This is the hopefully the beginning of a number of conversations with Scott Mann and his diligent work as host and narrator.

Permaculture Design Course — November 13-26, 2021

Our team is facilitating a Permaculture Design Course at Brave Earth and Finca Luna Nueva during the upcoming month of November. In this course we will utilize three different sites for teaching: a small homestead, a community, and a farm-to-table hotel. This is an ideal class for those coming from activist backgrounds and from deep personal/spiritual practices; in that it is designed to both provide a vision for the world we want to live in and give you literal hands-on tools for building that world.
